All State-owned parks & reserves in the City of Melville to be rezoned as 'Public Open Space'

I am proud to update the community that following an extraordinary campaign with my colleague Lisa O'Malley MLA and alongside the community resulted in Minister Saffioti's decision to formally classify all 13 State-owned parks and reserves in the City of Melville as 'Public Open Space'.

The Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA, has written to the City of Melville formally requesting documentation to be amended to reflect the Amendment as originally adopted, which includes reserving the State-owned land to Public Open Space.

The community support for protecting our local parks was overwhelming, with thousands of residents writing, signing petitions or completing my survey.

This is a great example of what can be achieved when the community and their local representative work together.

I am proud to have ensured the ongoing protection of the following local parks:
  1. Ces Deceau Reserve, Brentwood;
  2. Hugh Corbett Park, Booragoon;
  3. Bert Jeffery Park, Kardinya;
  4. Jack Martin Reserve, Kardinya;
  5. Laurie Withers Reserve (part), Kardinya;
  6. Prosser Park, Myaree; and
  7. Reg Seal Reserve (part), Mount Pleasant.
